If you’ve been here before, chances are you’ll know how much I love a good income report.
Reading other people’s income reports are what prompted me to start both matched betting and blogging in the first place, and I think it’s a great way to show the potential of side hustles (and main hustles!) if you’re willing to put in a little work.
If this is your first time here, you can catch up on my previous two income reports here:
Whilst there are a whole host of income report models out there, I choose to focus on my side hustle income reports in the hopes that it might inspire people to jump on to a survey site whilst they watch TV in the evening, or look to create one or two additional income streams aside from their full-time role to ensure they have financial stability in these turbulent times.
So, getting in to this month’s report, I have a bit of a confession to make. I know in last month’s report I mentioned how motivated I was feeling with everything and how I had big hopes for October in terms of side hustling.
Well folks, it didn’t quite go as planned.
I didn’t put the effort into creating eBay listings, I spent all of twenty minutes on Prolific doing one survey, and I didn’t apply to any research groups. Likewise, my private label items for Amazon STILL haven’t arrived at an Amazon warehouse, and I chose to close the rest of my textbook inventory listings to avoid having to pay long-term storage fees, so all in all, it’s been a bit of a dud month in terms of side hustle income.
But that’s why I wanted to continue to share this update with you – to show you that 1). these months do happen, and 2). you have to put in the work if you want to reap the rewards.
I may not have been putting in much effort with the quick wins, but I have been busy with this blog and my Amazon private label product (and I even managed to get a week down in Cornwall just before Lockdown 2.0 was announced), so my priorities in October were elsewhere.
BUT, with the lockdown looming, and us all being more housebound than ever before, I’m committed to making November my best month yet.
So, whilst it was my worst month yet, what did I actually make in side hustles in October?
I literally logged into Prolific once this month, and managed to nab a 20 minute survey that paid out £2.50.
Payouts aren’t always that much per survey – a lot of the time it’s less than 50p, but it really does add up when you put in the time. By comparison, my boyfriend dedicated a lot more time to it this month, and made over £40!
Amazon FBA: £9.99
Just before I closed my textbook listings on Amazon, I did actually receive one final sale totalling £9.99. This was on a book I originally bought for about £2, so there’s a little bit of profit there after you subtract Amazon fees.
Matched Betting: £98 (ish)
I spent a very small amount of time doing matched betting in October, which is surprising considering it’s usually the number one way I make extra cash each month.
However, for around four hours work across the last four weeks, it’s not a bad return and I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a risk-free (and tax-free!) side hustle.
If you’d like to find out more regarding matched betting, head to this blog post where I break it all down for you. Alternatively, if you’d like to dive straight on in and sign up to Profit Accumulator, the software I swear by (it almost-literally holds your hands through every step of the process for guaranteed profits), head here.
Affiliate Income: £11.76
Affiliate income is my favourite kind of income as it means that somebody read my blog and believed in what I was writing about enough to try it for themselves.
Affiliate income is absolutely an area I want to explore further as I progress on my blogging journey, as it in essence involves recommending a product I already use on a regular basis, and have no qualms in putting the blog’s name to.
Shopmium Referrals: £6
If you haven’t heard of Shopmium, it’s basically an app that can save you money on your food shopping.
In order to access the discounts, simply download the app and have a look to see what products are discounted or available for free at your local supermarket. Once you’ve purchased the items online or in store, you then take photos of your receipt and the barcode of the item, upload them in the app, and receive the money back in your bank or Paypal account within a few days.
Through referring readers to Shopmium after becoming a total convert myself, I received £6 in Shopmium credit to be used on a future food shop.
Sign up here, or find Shopmium on the App store, and enter in the code 992uf4 to receive a free tube of Pringles as a sign-up gift! (I will receive a referral fee if you claim your free tube).
Airtime Rewards Referrals: 50p
Airtime Rewards is a great way to save money on your phone bill each month.
Once you download the app, you can link your bank cards to it, and spend as normal. Airtime Rewards are partnered with a number of your go-to High Street and online retailers, and if you shop at any of them, you will automatically receive cashback from your purchase, which you can then redeem against your phone bill.
As it’s all automatic once you’ve hooked up your bank cards, there’s literally nothing else you need to do to earn this cashback. Effortless cashback is the best kind of cashback!
Find Airtime Rewards here, or search them on the App Store, and if you enter in the referral code B6HRYTEV we’ll both receive a 50p bonus.
So, whilst every little helps, as you can see, October was a little lower than what I’d originally hoped for.
But looking ahead to November, I’m feeling really pumped. Yes, we’re in lockdown again, and yes, it’s bleak out there, but there is no better time to turn this all into an opportunity to hunker down and side hustle our way to some extra cash.
As always, if you have any questions whatsoever on side hustles, feel free to reach out on Instagram – I’m always happy to help – and I look forward to sharing November’s achievements with you next month!
